El Digno Retorno
Wayfarer Theaters in Partnership with Wayfarer Foundation and Alianza Americas presents El Digno Retorno, A powerful documentary about immigration and deportation. A formerly undocumented, now deported filmmaker ventures into a self-referential journey through the nuances of return migration in Mexico.
Synopsis: Eduardo lives in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico after his deportation from the U.S. With camera at hand, he undertakes a journey towards the central part of the country, where he ends up working at a transnational call center. He documents his commutes as he crosses paths with other deportees and returnees, who like him, had an undocumented upbringing on U.S. soil. Through his lens, he reflects, rethinks and questions his own reintegration process.
Following the screening of El Digno Retorno, our panel discussion will delve into the lived experiences of individuals who have faced forced return or deportation, shedding light on the personal and collective challenges they endure. We will also explore the sentiments and concerns of communities in Lake County, where immigration policies continue to shape daily realities. Additionally, the conversation will provide critical insight into the ongoing deportations of individuals to El Salvador and the plight of those stranded in countries that are not their own after being deported to third countries, highlighting the urgent need for justice and systemic change.documentaryPT1H30Mnr2025-04-05Jose Eduardo Aguilar- is a deported filmmaker
