Jessica Redish : Director Spotlight

Wayfarer Theaters Presents a Retrospective of Short Films by Highland Park native and director Jessica Redish on Sunday, May 3 @ 4pm. Jessica Redish, is an award-winning director, writer & choreographer and a recent graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts’ MFA Film & Television Production Program. She has been referred to as a “rising star” by Medium.com because of her accomplishments with her award-winning short films and music videos. Her body of work ranges from contributing choreography to The Smashing Pumpkins' International Tour to her short films “The Last Croissant,” “AIRWAY” and “cat.” winning Best Director and Best Comedy awards. She also has worked as a comedy writer for Emmy & Golden Globe Winner Joey Soloway, as well as Michael Bay & Adam Goodman’s Invisible Narratives. Her two most recent award-winning short films “Exit, Pursued by a Bear,” and “cat.” have distribution both internationally and domestically. Jessica is currently working on four full-length film and television projects in development at various stages and loves working with and featuring strong female voices. Jessica attributes her ability to work with actors and capture great performances because of her theatre work for which The Chicago Tribune named her production of Merrily We Roll Along as one of the top ten Sondheim productions in Chicago, putting her on a shortlist with Hal Prince. She is also the winner of the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Choreography for Silence! The Musical! a musical parody of The Silence of the Lambs. Jessica strives for detail, honesty, compulsion and her work has been described as "hilariously twisted” by the Hollywood Digest. Her musical theatre background at Northwestern University has helped contribute to the movie musical director she is. About The Films: "The Last Croissant": A woman will do whatever it takes to get the last croissant. "AIRWAY": A woman envisions the worst when the man sitting next to her won't turn his phone to Airplane Mode. "Exit, Pursued by a Bear": A feisty Angeleno attempts to trap a bear infiltrating her neighborhood. "Instacart": A woman wants her Instacart driver to leave her.groceries at the door, but this is no ordinary delivery. "Getting Out": A woman can't seem to get out of her house during the pandemic. "Tailored to You": A wheelchair user and tailor working at her beloved adaptive alterations shop is thrown for a loop when an attractive tailor is hired to take over store operations. "Brighter Days": A young woman suffering from childhood trauma dreams of a way out. "cat.": A woman signs up for a dating coaching service in search of her soulmate and ends up being faced with her deepest desires.PT1H2026-05-03
